'The Navajo Code Talker'

$12,500.00

The Navajo Code Talker quickly relays code in his native language on forward operations before his radio signal is picked up by the Japanese. The TBY Radio is strapped to his back in a canvas pack with a handheld mic for easy reach. Outfitted with P-41 Herringbone Green Twill Dungarees, standard issue Boondocker field shoes and leggings, he secures his M-1 Carbine to do what it takes to fight in the jungles of the Pacific. This work embodies the American Navajo who fought with conviction, cooperation, and commitment to succeed in their mission. Their bravery - never to be forgotten.

Together with two other U.S. Marines (a Browning Automatic Rifleman and War Dog Handler with War Dog) This Navajo Code Talker was created to memorialize the WWII U.S. Marine Raiders in a piece titled Soul of the Forward and Faithful that is part of the permanent collection of the National Museum of the Marine Corps, commissioned by the WWII U.S. Marine Raider Foundation.

WWII Gear represented: M-1 Helmet, P-41 HBT Dungarees (3-pocket Herringbone Green Twill), Std issue Boondocker field shoes with P1936 field leggings, M-1 Carbine with Ammo pouch, M-1936 Web pistol belt with M-1911 Colt .45 pistol & holster, M-1942 Canteen, Std issue First aid pouch, Ka-Bar Knife, TBY Radio.
