In addition to creating her own series of works, Mardie Rees is often commissioned by patrons both public and private. When approaching a new commission, she pursues creating a work that is emotionally and spiritually meaningful to the community or family for which it was made. Capturing life and a moment in time, whether it's a historic figure or a person today, is essential to Rees. "I attempt to let the soul of the individual be seen by one's eyes. It is only then that a work can be felt by the heart."
